Cheeky
Monkey are a four-piece covers band, specialising in guitar
based pop/punk/rock/new wave music from the late 1970's
to the mid 1980's. We also play a few tunes from the 60's
and a load of tunes from the 90's through to the present
day.
If
you want your party to rock to music from The Jam and the
Sex Pistols to the Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers via Tenpole
Tudor, The Specials and some Buzzcocks..... then Cheeky
Monkey are your band!
We
also play loads of other cheeky covers in our set with some
classic pop tunes to which we have 'given the treatment' to.........
With
so many covers bands and tribute bands out there playing the
usual 'run of the mill' songs, we set out to play the tunes
that made the youth of the 70's and 80's want to stand up and
change the world ... (well it felt like that at the time!),
songs with attitude written by bands with attitude...... No
'Wonderful Tonight' ..... No 'Brown Eyed Girl' and absolutely
NO country and western!

What
can you say about Hoppo? ..... Well he's been called everything from the 'fat Ian Dury'
to the 'gay Eminem' (well he did dye his hair pink recently.....
and who are we to argue!?) One thing is certain though, the
big fella will certainly entertain you for the evening with
is dulcet tones and his charismatic Northern charm ....... and
the ladies are always saying 'ooh you've got lovely hair'!

(Punky Monkey): Bass guitar & vocals
Old
punks never die, they just get married, buy a house and have
kids! But with Si, the urge to change the world hasn't diminished
and the angry young man is slowly becoming a grumpy old man.
If 'the man in black' isn't racing around Oulton Park at 150mph,
he'll be on stage somewhere bashing out 150bpm basslines.....

Spunky
is another old punk slowly turning into a grumpy old man! This
veteran plank spanker loves to dress up at the weekend... if
we have a gig that is! .....and he would like to remind everyone
that he is the youngest member of the band. Just keep him away
from that microphone between the songs.... blah, blah, blah!
 
Cornsy
(Drunky Monkey) Drums, vocals & lager...& more lager
......
and one more lager!
At
8 feet tall and 6 feet wide, he is the driving force behind
the band. He is immune to all the usual drummer jokes, due
to his physical size, and he can drink his own weight in lager
in just under 5 hrs! If you don't see him on stage, you'll
certainly see him at the bar or on the dancefloor at some
point in the evening (it's amazing what lager can do to a
bloke!) ...... Just look out for the biggest grin, that'll
be him!
